ANALISA PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN SEACOAL TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PASIR CETAK GREENSAND

Abstract

Pengecoran logam adalah proses yang menghasilkan produk, dengan menggunakan media cetakan pasir greensand. Cetakan pasir greensand mudah dibuat dan dapat didaur ulang serta lebih murah. Komposisi pasir grensand utamanya adalah pasir silika, air, bentonite dan bahan aditif. Bahan aditif memiliki peranan penting dalam perubahan sifat pasir cetak greensand, salah satu bahan tersebut adalah seacoal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penambahan bahan aditif seacoal terhadap karakteristik cetakan greensand, sedangkan komposisi dengan menambahkan variasi seacoal sebesar 0,4%, 0,9 %, dan 1,8 %. Pengujian pasir cetak yang dilakukan meliputi pengujian kadar air, kadar clay, kuat tekan dan GFN. Komposisi standar pasir greensand diuji sebagai standar utama yaitu 0% (tanpa menggunakan seacoal) dibandingkan dengan variasi pasir greensand dengan penambahan seacoal. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan perubahan nilai uji kadar air dan kadar clay yang mengalami kenaikan sebelum ditambah seacoal dibanding setelah penambahan variasi 0,4%, namun selanjutnya terjadi kenaikan pada variasi  penambahan 4%, 0,9% dan 1,8%.  Untuk GFN hasil uji terjadi penurunan dari semua variasi. Pengujian permeabilitas terjadi peningkatan nilai uji awal, namun pada variasi 4%, 0,9% dan 1,8% nilai uji mengalami penurunan.
