Abstract

Proses pengelasan Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) merupakan metode yang banyak digunakan dalam industri pengelasan logam ferro dan non-ferro karena efisiensi waktu, kemudahan pengoperasian, dan biaya yang relatif terjangkau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh variasi arus pengelasan dan penambahan interlayer seng (Zn) terhadap sifat mekanik hasil pengelasan kampuh V pada baja karbon sedang ST37. Material penelitian berupa dua pelat baja ST37 berukuran 250 × 120 × 6 mm dengan celah kampuh 2 mm, serta lembaran interlayer Zn sepanjang 250 mm. Pengelasan dilakukan menggunakan arus 80 A, 100 A, dan 120 A. Hasil uji tarik menunjukkan bahwa kekuatan tarik tertinggi tanpa interlayer Zn dicapai pada arus 120 A sebesar 418,9 MPa, sedangkan dengan interlayer Zn mencapai 451,1 MPa pada arus yang sama. Pengujian kekerasan pada daerah Base Metal (BM), Heat Affected Zone (HAZ), Weld Metal 1 (WM1), dan Weld Metal 2 (WM2) menunjukkan nilai kekerasan tertinggi sebesar 166 HV pada WM2 tanpa Zn pada arus 120 A. Penambahan interlayer Zn terbukti meningkatkan kekuatan tarik sambungan las pada arus tertinggi, sedangkan kekerasan tertinggi tetap tercapai pada spesimen tanpa interlayer Zn
